The Boston Celtics were only a few games away from making the NBA Finals in 2020, yet they have three first round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft. If the Cs decide to keep all of their picks, they'll be picking at 14, 26 and 30.
Just days away from the draft, the Celtics are rumored to be interested in Auburn's wing player Isaac Okoro, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.
Isaac Okoro is being labeled as the draft's best wing defender and is even getting comparisons to future Hall-of-Famer Andre Iguodala. His jump shot was inconsistent last season with Auburn, but if he gets that fixed, he can definitely be a solid pro.
It is likely that Okoro is off the board at 14, so the Celtics will most likely need to trade up to get him. According to Kurt Helin of Yahoo Sports, the Celtics will probably have to package all three picks to move up high enough in the draft to acquire Okoro.
Although Okoro is a talented two-way player, it seems strange that the Celtics would draft yet another wing when they already have Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward.
Boston clearly has a gaping hole in their roster at center, so the rumors of taking Okoro could very well be smoke and mirrors. At pick 14, they'll most likely have the opportunity to take bigs like Precious Achiuwa or Vernon Carey without having to trade their other first-round picks.
The Celtics taking another wing player in the draft would raise some eyebrows, but it's looking like more and more of a possibility as we approach the draft.
