Are we sure Boston Celtics star Gordon Hayward isn't making a return this season?

After suffering a gruesome leg injury on the first day of the season and subsequently having surgery, Hayward has been rehabbing for months. He's made progress, and there have been several posts on social media slyly hinting at a possible return.

The statements from the Celtics is that he is officially out for the season, but the posts seem to suggest otherwise. And now, another video has surfaced, this time by way of Hayward's wife, Robyn. This one shows her husband shooting the basketball while on his own two feet, per Matt Ellentuck of SB Nation.

Most recently, the internet's mouth was collectively agape when Hayward was spotted without an ankle brace. Speculation was rampant that he might make a return before the season ended.

But the team put a stop to those rumors, saying that its expectation had not changed since the initial diagnosis and timeline was determined in October.

Still, this is incredible progress for Hayward. He may not be running yet, but he's able to step on the floor and put up some jumpers. That's a significant development.

There's no telling what this kind of activity does for Hayward's timeline for a return to playing NBA basketball. Most out-of-shape pick-up basketball nobodies do what Hayward is doing in this video.

But maybe he's ahead of schedule and looking to make a return to the Celtics and make a serious push for a Finals run. With the Cleveland Cavaliers slipping, and the Celtics rolling, it has to be in the back of Hayward's mind that he could help his team get to the Finals.

It's beginning to get interesting.
