Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been working out with former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady this summer. Brown posted some footage of himself working out with the Houston Rockets legend on Twitter.
Brown nearly doubled his averages from his rookie year in his sophomore season last year, recording 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists for the 2017-18 season. Another big year from him could help his loaded Celtics team dominate a LeBronless Eastern Conference to make an NBA Finals appearance this season.
Brown was selected No. 3 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft and looks like he'll play a big part in the future of the Celtics organization. Even if his team is loaded at his position at the moment. Jayson Tatum is coming off and impressive rookie campaign and Gordon Hayward is set to return to the court after his traumatizing leg injury that ended his season in their opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers last year.
It is likely that Brown will see the bulk of his minutes at the shooting guard position so they can make the most of their talented roster. He can use his 6-foot-7 stature, length and athleticism to gain an advantage over most guards he will face.
One of the knocks against Brown has been his shooting. He shot 34.1 percent from deep in his rookie year and improved to 39.5 percent last season. He's not a player that can really spray you from deep, but if he develops more consistency, he can become a nightmare on the offensive end. If he can also pick up some tips on how to size up defenders and score midrange jumpers from McGrady, Brown's upside will only continue to rise.
