The Los Angeles Chargers could use some good news after going 1-4 through the first five weeks of the season. They got one this week, as rookie wide receiver Mike Williams is ready to make his NFL debut in Week 6 against the Oakland Raiders according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Williams, who was selected seventh overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Chargers, aggravated a back injury right on the first day of training camp. He will lend a big hand to Los Angeles’ offense that has been having a hard time putting up points on the board.

The Chargers are just averaging 18.0 points per game prior to Week 5 despite a passing attack that is sixth in the league with 269.0 passing yards per contest.

Williams, part of the Clemson Tigers squad that took down the Alabama Crimson Tide in the last College Football Playoff National Championship, stands 6-4 and is an athletic wideout who could be the answer to the Chargers’ third-down woes. The team is sixth-worst overall with a poor 34.9 percent third-down conversion rate.

In four seasons in Clemson, Williams had 2,727 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns on 177 receptions.
