Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is a hockey fan. Perhaps not too many people know about that, but a lot have also just realized that when Chuck appeared on the NHL on TNT Wednesday night where he lent his comedic flair to the show, even going as far as to making fun of Wayne Gretzky.

Yeah. Barkley did make fun of The Great One. It’s the Round Mound of Rebound hilariously calling out Gretzky for the latter losing one fight ages ago to Neal Broten. The fight was way back in  1982, which was during the heydays of Gretzky with the Edmonton Oilers.

Charles Barkley should have also known that it was not really Gretzky’s job to drop gloves. All Gretzky did back then was feed his teammates with assists and embarrass opposing goalies. Plus, he had somebody to do that for him, and that’s no other than Dave Semenko, who was Gretzky’s bodyguard.

Gretzky took Barkley’s ribbing in stride, but he also missed on a golden chance to highlight Barkley’s infamous in-game brawl with Shaquille O'Neal.

Gretzky finished his legendary career with 894 goals and 1,487 assists — both still-standing NHL records. The NHL can erase all of Gretzky’s goals from the record books and he’d still be the league’s all-time point-getter.

And also Chuck…
