Charles Barkley says that rift with Michael Jordan is not over
Throughout Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley’s NBA playing careers, they developed a close friendship. Due to Chuck’s current vocation as an NBA analyst, the pair’s bond is now almost non-existent, as he revealed on ‘The Dan Le Batard Show’:
“I think some people, when you’re their friend, they expect you to have their back no matter what,” he explained. “Part of my job sucks, but I have to criticize people I like or are friends. … He took it personal and got really angry.”
Jordan took offense to some of Barkley’s comments regarding decisions he has made as the owner of the then-Charlotte Bobcats, a few years ago.
In a recent photo, taken at the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame ceremony last month, the NBA legends posed together and looked at peace with each other. However, Barkley believes that the relationship remains the same:
“I love Michael. I miss Michael’s friendship. He was a great friend to me for a long period of time and I love him and miss him like a brother,” Barkley said. “I would love to mend that relationship, but we just happened to be at the same place and took a picture together. We are not back to where we used to be.”
Barkley and Jordan have shared some incredible memories, including when they both featured in the US Olympic ‘Dream Team’ in 1992. Basketball fans all over the globe hope that they can eventually bury the hatchet.
