This week, the Kansas City Chiefs welcomed Brett Favre to their training camp as a visitor. After seeing his former quarterback, Andy Reid hilariously said that Favre could still play in the NFL today.
At 49 years old, Favre is in phenomenal shape but the strong-armed quarterback seems content with his life after football—for now. During Favre's 20-year playing career, the quarterback retired three times before finally calling it quits in 2010.
Favre began his career with the Atlanta Falcons before being traded to the Green Bay Packers in 1992. During his first seven years in Green Bay, Reid was an offensive assistant for the Packers.
Together, Reid and Favre were part of a magical run to the Super Bowl for the Packers in 1996. Green Bay defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl when Bill Parcells and Drew Bledsoe were the head coach/quarterback duo for the Patriots.
Now, in 2019, Reid gets to coach a quarterback who has been likened to Favre in many ways. Patrick Mahomes showed off his arm talent in 2018 as he was throwing jaw-dropping throws all over the field for the Chiefs.
In just his second season, Mahomes managed to complete no-look passes on his way to 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2018. As a result, the gunslinging quarterback won the NFL's Most Valuable Player Award.
After a historic campaign in 2018, there is a ton of hype surrounding Mahomes as he advances into his third season in Kansas City. Similarly to Favre, Reid is hoping to experience a Super Bowl victory with a fearless quarterback under center in 2019.
