Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid finally managed to secure his Super Bowl ring as the lead man in charge. It appears he has also managed to build a potential dynasty in the process.

Now that Reid is no longer the winningest head coach without a Super Bowl, there is plenty of speculation regarding how long he plans on trying to add to the trophy case. He says having a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes may have convinced him to put off retirement for just a little while longer, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk:

“I’ve got this young quarterback over here that makes life easy,” Reid said.

Reid's comments are certainly understandable. He has coached plenty of talented quarterbacks throughout his career, however, none of them boasted quite the same talent that Mahomes does.

The Chiefs made quite the investment when they opted to take Mahomes with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and sit him out nearly his entire rookie year while he learned the ropes as a backup to quarterback Alex Smith. Fortunately, their patience has undoubtedly paid huge dividends after earning league MVP and Super Bowl MVP honors in his first two seasons as a starter.

Mahomes' emergence clearly has Andy Reid thinking twice about whether or not he plans on sticking around for the long haul. The 61-year-old has now accomplished everything there is as a professional head coach. It seems he now may be looking to kick things up a notch with Mahomes at his disposal. The Chiefs will be better off for it.
