The Kansas City Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl. It's been a long time since those words were last muttered outside of a “Madden” franchise league.

The last time the Chiefs went to the Super Bowl, it was at the conclusion of the 1969 season, when they faced the Minnesota Vikings in New Orleans, a game that they ultimately one. It's been 50 years since they last made a Super Bowl, marking the longest drought in NFL history; a drought that is no-more.

The Chiefs will face either the San Francisco 49ers or Green Bay Packers in Miami on Feb. 2. If it is the Packers, it will be a rematch of Super Bowl I, a game that Green Bay won. A rematch of the first Super Bowl in the NFL's 100th season? Sign me up.

Once down 10-0 in their AFC Championship tilt with the Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs stormed back to win 35-24 on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City rode the hot hand of Patrick Mahomes. The third-year MVP had another memorable outing, as he went 23-of-35 passing for 294 yards and three touchdowns. He had a 27-yard touchdown scamper to give the Chiefs a four-point lead over the Titans entering halftime — a lead that they would not relinquish in the second half.

The Chiefs now have two weeks to prepare for their big game with the winner of the NFC. Andy Reid will get his second shot at a Super Bowl win as a head coach. Mahomes will get his first shot after losing in the AFC Championship in 2019.
