Patrick Mahomes and Deandre Washington were rivals in the AFC West in recent seasons, but they now can call themselves teammates once again. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed Washington in free agency.

Before both of them entered the NFL, Mahomes and Washington were once teammates at Texas Tech. After becoming the starting quarterback at Texas Tech in 2015, Mahomes was able to actually play with Washington.

In their lone season as starters together, Washington was able to rush for a personal best 1,492 yards and 14 touchdowns. Additionally, Washington recorded 41 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns.

Following his impressive senior season, Washington was selected by the then-Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Then, just a year later, Mahomes was drafted by the Chiefs with the No. 10 pick.

While Mahomes has evolved into arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, Washington has served as a backup running back for the Raiders. Altogether, in his four seasons with the Raiders, Washington has combined for 1,735 total yards and eight touchdowns.

Last season, the Chiefs used a variety of running backs in their backfield. Nevertheless, they were able to win the Super Bowl with Damien Williams leading the charge in the rushing attack.

Some people believe that Kansas City could add a running back in the 2020 NFL Draft. By doing so, the Chiefs could make their offense even more lethal. Regardless of what they do in the draft, the Chiefs reunited Mahomes with his running back from his days at Texas Tech.
