Star left tackle Orlando Brown and the Kansas City Chiefs have been unable to come to terms on a new deal.

Brown, who is in search of a new deal, has fought for the opportunity to be classified as a left tackle instead of a right tackle. When looking at the difference between the two positions, the highest-paid left-tackles make nearly $4 million more than the highest-paid right-tackles.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Orlando Brown could very well hold out into the regular season

Up to this point, Brown has chosen to not sign the franchise tag. The Chiefs used their tag on him back in March. The tag would pay Brown $16.7 million this season. Since Orlando Brown has not signed the franchise tender, he wouldn't be fined for any time missed.

At age 26, Brown, a three-time Pro Bowler, is looking to be paid like many of the game's other elite left tackles.

Brown, who made the switch from right tackle to left tackle in 2020, has been among the game's best since switching sides. He allowed just one or more sacks in just five games last season.

Brown was originally a member of the Baltimore Ravens. While he played primarily right tackle during his first two seasons, he made the switch to left tackle in 2020. After asking to be classified as a left tackle, the Ravens decided to move on from him.

Losing Orlando Brown would be a big blow to a Chiefs offense that relies heavily on their pass protection. Trying to find a player of his caliber this late in the off-season would be nearly impossible. If the two signs can't agree on a deal, the Chiefs could find themselves in a difficult position.
