The NFL's investigation into allegations of domestic abuse against Tyreek Hill came to a close last week without the star wide receiver being suspended. Now that the Kansas City Chiefs finally have some clarity on his status, they're looking ahead to another season competing for the Super Bowl with the league's most explosive offense.

Asked his thoughts on Hill returning to the team, Chiefs quarterback and reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes expressed excitement about his friend getting back on the field.

“He’s a good friend of mine,” Mahomes said of Hill, per Soren Petro of 810 WHB. “So I’m excited to have him back and to be able to get to work with him.”

Hill came under scrutiny in March when it was revealed he was under investigation by police for battery against his four-year-old son, who had suffered a broken arm. His fiancée, Crystal Espinal, was also named in the report. In its findings of the investigation, the league office wrote that “authorities have publicly advised that the available evidence does not permit them to determine who caused the child’s injuries.” Hill remains subject to conditions set by the NFL, the Chiefs, and the District Court despite no finding of wrongdoing in this instance.

Hill has a history of domestic violence. He was arrested on December 12, 2014 after Espinal, his girlfriend at the time and pregnant with their son, accused him of domestic assault. Hill ultimately pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery by strangulation, being sentenced to three years of probation and other reform programs for domestic abusers.

Broadly considered the fastest player in the NFL, Hill had 87 catches for 1,479 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns last season, earning his third consecutive Pro Bowl nod.
