While the Kansas City Chiefs had to part ways with superstar wideout Tyreek Hill, Patrick Mahomes is liking what the team is doing in free agency to keep their roster competitive.
Recently, the team added running back depth by signing Ronald Jones II. The veteran RB played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2018 to 2021, playing a big role as well to help the Florida franchise win Super Bowl LV. Interestingly, it was the Chiefs whom Jones and the Bucs had to defeat to win the title.
With that said, Mahomes looks pretty excited to have a former foe join forces with him and the Chiefs in search for another Super Bowl ring. On Twitter, he tweeted three flexing emojis to show his approval for the move:
Ronald Jones II had his best year in 2020 when he accumulated 978 rushing yards for seven touchdowns. He also recorded one receiving touchdown that year to lead the Buccaneers' rushing offense. After quite a down year in 2021 when he had to take a step back for Leonard Fournette, hopes are high he can recapture his previous form and help the Chiefs dominate.
The acquisition of Jones is just one of a flurry of signings the Chiefs have made in recent days. They also inked Aaron Rodgers' former target with the Green Bay Packers in Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a deal to give Mahomes more weapons.
Naturally, the young superstar QB couldn't get any more excited to have another reliable wideout he can throw to:
For what it's worth, the Chiefs are also far from over in improving the roster. According to the latest reports, Kansas City is also eyeing cornerback help in the likes of Stephon Gilmore and James Bradberry. Gilmore is a free agent who has garnered interest from the Las Vegas Raiders as well, while Bradberry is still under contract for one more season with the Big Apple franchise.
As explained earlier, since the Giants are in a difficult salary cap situation, trading for Bradberry might not be difficult for the Chiefs.
It remains to be seen what else the Chiefs plan to do, but Mahomes is certainly loving where the team is going despite losing one of its biggest weapons.
