Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a huge game against the New England Patriots on Sunday night. The speedy wideout racked up 142 yards with three touchdowns, including a 75-yard score with three minutes left in the fourth quarter that tied the game.

Patriots fans were understandably not thrilled by Hill’s crucial TD, and they let him know it. As Hill approached the stands, a group of fans brazenly gave him the middle finger and threw their beer at him.

To Hill’s credit, though, he didn’t lose his cool and retaliate against those rowdy fans. After the game, he credits head coach Andy Reid for reminding him not to get mad about those sorts of things.

“My coach (Andy Reid) told me, ‘Don’t get emotional. Don’t get mad about it because it comes with the territory,'” Hill said per Lauren Campbell of NESN. “I’m not mad at all.”

It goes without saying that those select fans were out of line with how they treated Hill. It was unacceptable behavior that should not be tolerated by anyone, anywhere.

Hill deserves to be commended for keeping his composure. Other players might have reacted much more aggressively if they had been in his situation, which could have set off an ugly incident. Luckily, no such thing ended up happening.

Hopefully, that sort of unseemly behavior turns out to be a mere isolated incident in Foxboro as it is clearly not the type of thing that fans of any team should be doing.
