Nate Taylor of The Athletic has reported that the NFL told the Kansas City Chiefs to stop trying to obtain the now infamous footage of their former running back Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a woman at a hotel in Cleveland last February.

“The Chiefs, according to multiple league sources, knew video evidence of the altercation existed, but they were told by the NFL to stop pursuing it later in February once the league began its investigation. The league, however, couldn’t obtain the video.”

The NFL has claimed that they were told by the hotel that their company policy was not to release the video to anyone other than law enforcement. Cleveland police also claim that they had not seen the video.

Taylor also reported that Hunt didn't tell the organization about the event, they found out through media reports. Hunt also confirmed that he lied to the Chiefs about his actions in an interview with ESPN's Lisa Salters.

The video shows Hunt in an altercation with a woman who he pushes and kicks once she is on the ground. Hunt was never charged by the police, but two reports were filed, one by each party. Neither report mentioned Hunt kicking the woman.

The Chiefs cut Hunt shortly after the video was released. He is expected to clear waivers unclaimed.
