Tyreek Hill may have avoided a suspension, but that does not mean the Kansas City Chiefs will be negotiating a new contract with him in the immediate future.

According to James Palmer of NFL Network, contract talks between the Chiefs and Hill won't start for at least several weeks, if not months. Hill is entering the final year of his deal and is scheduled to make just under $2 million in 2019.

Palmer notes that Hill's new contract will “have some very specific language in it.”

Controversy ensued with Hill earlier this offseason when he was hit with child abuse allegations after his three-year old son suffered a broken arm, which resulted in his son being removed from the home of Hill and his fiance.

A recording later surfaced of Hill making threatening comments to his fiance.

However, as a result of medical examiners determining that the child's injury was a result of a fall rather than abuse, the case against Hill was dropped, and the wide receiver was able to evade a suspension from the NFL as a result.

Hill is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he hauled in 87 receptions for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at West Alabama, was originally selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round (165th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three NFL seasons, notching a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections in the process.
