Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum had a pretty good idea superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard was going to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers over the Los Angeles Lakers.

McCollum says from a competitive standpoint, Leonard didn't want to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Instead, the two-time Finals MVP wanted to defeat those guys and that's why he ended up signing with the Clippers.

Kawhi Leonard recruited Paul George to the Clippers by convincing the All-Star swingman to demand a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The battle of Los Angeles is going to be epic in 2019-20. LeBron and AD vs. Kawhi and PG. It doesn't get much better than that.

After winning his second championship this past season, why would Leonard hop on the Lakers' bandwagon? Other than Lakers fans, no one was expecting Leonard to sign with the Purple and Gold. It was always the Toronto Raptors or Clippers.

LAC made the playoffs without an All-Star and took the Golden State Warriors to six games in the first round of the 2019 playoffs. Now, you're adding Leonard and George to a Clippers squad with Lou Williams, Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell on it.

For the first time in franchise history, the Clippers are title contenders.
