The “Lob City” era of the Los Angeles Clippers, led by Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, JJ Redick and head coach Doc Rivers, were one of the most exciting teams to watch in the regular season year after year.

However, the group never got past the second round of the playoffs despite having talent up and down the roster.

Now that everyone from the Lob City Clippers is gone after Rivers and the organization parted ways, the question of why the team could never get over the hump has come back to the forefront and Redick has two reasons why the Clippers failed to win a title.

“Well, I think there's a couple of things. And look, I've talked about this before and I've used the word pettiness before or petty. There was some pettiness between some of us,” JJ Redick told former Clippers forward Matt Barnes on “All The Smoke.”

“Probably if you look back and I've talked to enough of the guys now like we've all matured even more since then and we've all sort of realized what we squandered by being immature and petty at times. The other part of that is, you know, for whatever reason, I know you've said this before too, but the mental toughness, we would lose that at times. It still doesn't make sense to me.”

The Clippers had a golden opportunity to reach the Western Conference Finals in 2015. They were up 3-1 on the Houston Rockets in the second round but wound up blowing that series in epic fashion.

Paul told Barnes on the “All The Smoke” podcast that he and Griffin had some issues behind the scenes on the Clippers. However, the future Hall of Famer also admitted he appreciates Griffin a lot more now that they are no longer teammates.
