Whether DeAndre Jordan opts in or out of his contract with the L.A. Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks are looking to arrange a package to accommodate him. The Clippers remain open to any offers. But they seem to want no part of Wesley Matthews in a possible trade scenario.

As reported by Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Clippers have no interest in Matthews and therefore, the Mavericks are left with the chore of arranging a different package that does not involve the 31-year-old shooting guard.

As reported, Jordan's decision will come out at the end of the week. There have been tons of rumors surrounding his decision. Due to the recent trade which landed Marcin Gortat to the Clippers, many were quick to suspect that the Polish Hammer will be Jordan's replacement.

A quick look at the past also reveals that Jordan agreed to sign with the Mavericks in 2015. But due to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin's insistence, Jordan stayed. Now, Paul and Griffin are out of the picture. The Clippers roster does not have the pieces for a championship caliber team.

The Mavericks, on the other hand, have the likes of Dennis Smith, Jr., Harrison Barnes, recent pick Kostas Antetokounmpo, and wunderkind Luka Doncic.

And as per Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said that they need a big man in addition to their young core:

“July 1 is right around the corner, bro,” coach Rick Carlisle said on draft night when asked about the Mavs' need for a big man. “We will address it. There will be options.”
