Referees in the NBA can sometimes be very cold human beings, devoid of emotions and bereft of empathy, especially with the players. This is what L.A. Clippers guard Austin Rivers found out exactly Wednesday night when he was denied a simple gesture from one heartless game official, a moment that you could view in the video below.

We are not exactly sure what it was Austin Rivers did prior to his getting ignored by the referee, but of course, game officials are all expected to act in a proper manner, and dapping or shaking hands with players while the game is not yet over is obviously not an ideal way for them to exemplify professionalism.

Getting that kind of treatment from a referee is something Rivers could easily live with. After all, the Clippers bagged a win over Milwaukee, 127-120, to move two games closer to the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. Rivers scored 22 games with five three-pointers against the Bucks, extending his multiple three-pointers streak to four games. DeAndre Jordan led the Clippers with a monster effort of 25 rebounds and 22 rebounds.

So far this season, Rivers is averaging 15.5 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game, while also knocking down 38.5 percent of his shots from deep.

Rivers and the Clippers are making a late-season push for the playoffs. They currently own a 38-33 record with 11 games left on their schedule. They will next face the Indiana Pacers on the road this coming Friday before flying north of the border for a showdown with the Toronto Raptors.
