Tuesday night in the NCAA will feature an ACC matchup between Georgia Tech and Duke. It's time to continue our college basketball odds series with a Georgia Tech-Duke prediction and pick.
Duke is coming into this matchup as the heavy favorite. Duke is currently the second-ranked team in the nation right behind Baylor. Their highlights of the season are when they defeated Kentucky on opening night and then No. 1 Gonzaga a few weeks later. Their only loss came to unranked Ohio State, but they have won four straight since. Duke is fresh off a 76-65 win over Virginia Tech in early December as their last two games were postponed.
Georgia Tech is 6-6 on the season and isn't in a position to contend this year. This should be an easy game for Duke to win.

Why Georgia Tech Could Cover The Spread
This will be the toughest game on the Georgia Tech schedule all year. They are unlikely to cover this spread, but it is large enough for them to possibly do it. Georgia Tech has lost five of their last six games but did come close to No. 23 Wisconsin in early December. It's going to take their best game of the season just to cover this spread. Senior guard Michael Devoe is averaging 21.2 points per game and senior guard Jordan Usher is averaging 15.1 points per game. Those two will need to be on the money in this game if they want a chance at covering. It's going to be extremely difficult for them to shut down the Duke offense, so keeping up with scoring is the only way to get it done.
Why Duke Could Cover The Spread
Duke should cover this spread as Georgia Tech hasn't really competed with any of the top teams they faced this year. The Blue Devils are loaded with talent, led by potential top pick Paolo Banchero. They haven't played in quite some time, so they might be a little rusty to start, but I expect Duke to get going fast and dominate Georgia Tech for the whole game. Duke's key to the game will be to contain Devoe and Usher as much as they can. Those two have the skill to take over a game, so Duke will try to shut them down.
Duke is 7-3-2 against the spread this season. They are averaging 85 points per game and allowing 64 per game. That score difference is crucial for them because it shows they can play well on both sides of the floor. Georgia Tech averages 68 points per game and allows one point fewer at 67. That difference is a reason why they are just 6-6 on the year.
