Carson Wentz hit training camp off to an impressive start, but the Indianapolis Colts‘ new quarterback has hit a bump in the road early on. According to Around the NFL, Wentz will miss out on Friday's practice with an apparent foot injury. This is something to keep note of, as Wentz “is currently being evaluated, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Friday on Inside Training Camp. Garafolo added that the team's initial belief and hope was that it is a minor injury,” per Mike Garafolo.

Indianapolis has received some bad news, however, as it appears Carson Wentz may need surgery on his hurt foot, per Michael Silver. This is worse than what the franchise was hoping for, as this could result in Wentz missing multiple weeks.

The Colts have high hopes this year after being eliminated in the Wild Card round by the Buffalo Bills in the 2020 NFL Playoffs. After bringing Carson Wentz into the organization, the franchise hopes to get his career back on track. Wentz was quite successful with Frank Reich as his offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Colts hope to recapture that magic this year.

Wentz has looked good so far in training camp. He's been accurate and launching deep balls to his receivers. It's been quite impressive to see how comfortable he looks under center for Indianapolis, considering how shaky he looked with the Eagles. However, this injury scare will likely set the Colts back a tad, but Wentz and the coaching staff hope it's not as serious as it sounds.

With Wentz missing out on Friday's practice, backup quarterback Jacob Eason took reps with the first team. Eason came into camp looking fit and ready to go, so there might be some optimism if Wentz is forced to miss time. Even so, the quarterback position has been an issue for the Colts since Andrew Luck unexpectedly retired. With Wentz possibly missing time due to a foot injury, the Colts playoff hopes could be in peril.
