Indianapolis Colts star linebacker Darius Leonard has had a troubled history with ankle injuries in the NFL. This offseason, just like last year, has been no different, as Leonard has had to answer questions about the state of his health. Having had two surgeries thus far, including one last NFL offseason, Leonard played through the 2021 season with the ankle taped and braced. On Thursday, the Colts star spoke to reporters and offered a hilarious update on his injury, as reported by Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star.

“It’s attached, it’s there,” Leonard said. “It feels a whole lot better than what it did, coming from the end of the season. A lot of time to rest, trying to make it stronger. I feel better coming into this season than I did last year, I can say that.”

Leonard said that his ankle “is attached.” Well, good thing for that! It's a running joke he has utilized with reporters in the past.

Fortunately, the Colts star did provide some positive news, saying that he feels better than he did last NFL offseason, when he was forced to miss the first couple of weeks of training camp after he underwent surgery on the ankle in June.

Leonard, 26, has earned All-Pro honors in three of four seasons in the league. However, he has only played a full season just once.

It's scary to imagine what Leonard could accomplish with a clean bill of health. Perhaps 2022 will finally be the year it happens.
