Indianapolis Colts rookie linebacker Darius Leonard is a tremendous talent and far exceeded any expectations this season. Leonard was a fantastic addition to the Colts this season and brought a face to the defensive unit. They are proud of their rookie star to say the least.

Leonard was the league leader in tackles as well and broke the Colts record for tackles in a season with 163 total tackles. Leonard was named to several defensive honors throughout the season as well and it's safe to say Indianapolis got a first round talent in the second round of the 2018 draft.

Indianapolis has struggled on defense in recent years, but they have a new identity with Leonard and one of the league's better pass defenses in 2019. They are on their way to becoming one of the league's more promising teams and have a great new look with head coach Frank Reich.

The Colts have a great foundation on defense with Leonard and it's likely the team will continue to build around the fantastic rookie. Indianapolis has not been known for their defense since the days of Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney, but Leonard could very well bring back that identity to the team. If Leonard can continue to play at this level it's safe to say the Colts could have a strong defense to match their elite offense.

The Colts could look to a pass rusher in the 2019 draft to match the other areas of strength in the defense.
