Wisconsin Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor is one of the best running backs in college football. In fact, would be a great addition to the New Orleans Saints as a Mark Ingram-type of talent.

After Ingram left for the Baltimore Ravens the Saints signed Latavius Murray to fill his role, but the team has an out after next season with him.

With Taylor's draft stock rising, there's a chance he could be a first-round pick. The Saints own their first-rounder, as well as the Dolphins' second, which should end up being the early 30s. Thanks to previous decisions, the Saints have the ammo to make the move for Taylor.

Taylor is one of the smoothest running backs coming out of the draft, and one of the most powerful. Ingram used his power to be the perfect compliment to Alvin Kamara and Taylor could do the same thing. Thedraftnetwork.com gave the following evaluation of Taylor:

“Impressive blend of size, power and speed. Love how he always runs square and behind his pads. Terrific power throughout his frame which leads to consistent output after contact. Always falls forward and finishes his runs. Has more big play potential than expected for a 220-pound runner. Smooth, easy accelerator that is capable of running away from defensive backs. Impressive amount of elusiveness, twitch and shiftiness for his size. Love his blend of patience and decisiveness as a runner, allowing blocks to take form and working off them. Vision is generally sound and he does a good job of feeling cutback lanes and manipulating the second level.”

The only real weakness for Taylor is his pass-catching ability, but with the Saints that wouldn't be a real issue, as he is just a compliment to Kamara. There are also some questions about how he would do behind an average or poor offensive line because he has played behind a great line since getting to Wisconsin.

If the team doesn't decide to draft Taylor, or he is already gone when the Saints do draft, they do have a great fallback plan with Murray. They do have him under contract for the next three years and he has proven he can do a great job in the Ingram role.

Who knows, maybe the Saints could draft Taylor and the Saints would have a three-headed monster coming out of the backfield.
