Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith is a key to the team's defense, but Mike McCarthy still hasn't found time to call him back. Smith made an appearance on the Aaron Tores Sports Podcast and talked about a variety of things including his new head coach.

Smith revealed that he reached out to McCarthy as he was hired to be the Cowboys' head coach, but the boss hasn't returned the call.

“I left a message with him, I’m waiting to hear back from him. But he’s a busy guy, he’s got a lot of things going on, we’re still getting all the staff and everything situated. And I’m really looking forward to this year.”

Smith said he understands how busy McCarthy — it comes with being the head coach of the Cowboys. He has no hard feelings with not getting a callback.

“It’s all love baby. It’s all love.”

Even though Smith is playing it off as fine that he hasn't gotten a callback, there has to be some level of frustration. McCarthy might be busy with getting settled in as a new coach, but his players are most important.

Smith is key figure in the Cowboys' defense and is locked up through the 2025 season. Keeping the best players happy is key, and McCarthy maybe should work on that a bit.

This may turn out to be a little issue, but this could be something that blows up if more incidents happen. Hopefully, McCarthy will pick up his phone soon an give a call to Smith, even if it's just for a couple of minute conversation.
