Although the Dallas Cowboys' high-powered offense was shut down for the first time this season, NFL legend Brett Favre didn't hold back praise for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

This is high praise for Dak Prescott and perfect timing as well for two reasons: One, the 26-year-old Prescott is looking for a new and potentially record-breaking contract. Two, the Cowboys are about to play Favre's old team, the Green Bay Packers, this coming Sunday.

While Dak has looked terrific in the first three games of the season, Sunday marked the first time he didn't throw a touchdown pass. He was held to 223 yards through the air.

Favre's praise of Prescott ironically consists of things the fourth-round pick was criticized for coming out of college, his arm strength in particular. Prescott's durability in his career has been outstanding, playing and starting in all 16 games each season since 2016.

Favre, the Packer great and Hall of Fame quarterback, has recently been praising the league's young, up-and-coming quarterbacks such as Daniel Jones. Prescott is much more experienced than Jones and his team holds much higher aspirations at the moment.

No one is hoping that Favre's last statement will come true more than the Dallas faithful. The Cowboys' game against the Saints proved to be a wake-up call; the New Orleans defense stuffed Kellen Moore's offense. As the season moves along Dak will need to make the necessary adjustments in order to keep the Cowboys' offensive flow going.

Prescott is becoming a smarter and more experienced quarterback each and every game, but his progression will need to continue if he has hopes of leading Dallas to its first Super Bowl since January of 1996.
