The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Washington Football Team 27-20 Sunday, yet head coach Mike McCarthy fielded some tough questions on why Dallas was unable to put Washington away early. McCarthy had a strong take in his response.

“That’s your narrative. … This isn’t fantasy football. I would’ve liked the game to be more open (in the second half), but at the end of the day, things happen. It’s a great team win.”

Dallas built a big lead early in the game Sunday, putting up 18 points in the first quarter. However, the offense struggled with consistency again. Late in the 4th quarter, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw an interception returned for a touchdown. All of a sudden, what seemed like an insurmountable lead was cut to 27-20.

The defense once again stepped up and got a strip sack of Washington back up quarterback Kyle Allen, sealing the game.

However, after the game, the media posed some questions to McCarthy, pressing him on the Cowboys inability to put their opponent away. Clearly, McCarthy was not very concerned and felt strongly that his team played well enough to win the game.

In the win, Dak Prescott once again struggled, throwing two interceptions. The offense also did not hit any of their home run type plays they were accustomed to. But, the defense once again stepped up. Rookie linebacker Micah Parsons continued to take the league by storm. Parsons recorded two more sacks and forced a fumble in the win.

Dallas has effectively sealed up the NFC East title and can shift their focus to trying to earn the conference's top seed.
