Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has one year remaining on his current contract, so, he is up for a new deal very soon. However, you probably shouldn't expect him to make more annually than Carson Wentz and Jared Goff, both of whom have two years left on their contracts.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell projects that Prescott will land a six-year, $168 million contract, which would put him at $28 million a year. Meanwhile, he thinks Wentz will receive a five-year, $146 million deal, meaning he would earn $29.2 million annually. He also states that Goff will end up getting five years and $155 million, good for $31 million a season.
It makes sense, as Prescott has not been as productive as either Wentz or Goff thus far in his career.
The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 3,885 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 67.7 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 96.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.
Prescott, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State University, was originally selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round (135th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
He was immediately pressed into duty during his rookie year due to a season-ending injury to Tony Romo, and he was impressive, finishing with 3,667 yards, 23 touchdowns and four picks while completing 67.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 104.9, making his first Pro Bowl as a result.
Then, in 2017, Prescott threw for 3,324 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, recording a completion percentage of 62.9 percent and a passer rating of 86.6.
