The NFL has been experiencing a wave of COVID-19 cases in the past few weeks. While the number of cases have lowered recently, it's important not to be complacent in this situation. This is what Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is preaching to his teammates ahead of potential New Year's Eve celebrations.

The Cowboys weren't as hard hit with the COVID-19 outbreak as most teams are. They still had their fair share of cases, with the most notable names being coach Mike McCarthy and wide receiver Amari Cooper (who had some interesting thoughts about playing with COVID). However, they've been lucky to not get ravaged like the Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Browns a few weeks ago.

COVID-19 can hit anyone, and Dak Prescott knows that. The Cowboys are in the midst of an incredible turnaround after missing the playoffs last season, clinching the NFC West last week. It would be a shame if this season ended because of a bunch of players being placed in the dreaded protocols.

Prescott himself is having a stellar season for himself. The prized Cowboys quarterback is completing a career high 68.9% of his passes for around 280 yards per game, leading the team on and off the field. The fact that he's doing this after coming back from a gruesome season-ending injury last season makes his performance more impressive.

Good on Dak Prescott for being the leader that the Cowboys need and making sure everyone stays safe during the holiday season. It's just the right thing to do, both for the players' safety and their season.
