Things aren't looking great for the Dallas Cowboys and first-year head coach Mike McCarthy. The former Super Bowl champion coach's tenure in Dallas is off to an awful 2-4 start as the Cowboys dropped their fourth loss of the season on Monday against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cowboys got their behinds handed to them by the visiting Cardinals in an emphatic 38-10 loss. After the defeat, McCarthy mentioned that he was quite pleased with his team's readiness for their Monday night defeat which might be a cause of concern for Cowboys fans.
“I felt like the preparation coming into the game was probably our best so far this year, but obviously that doesn't account for anything, particularly after a performance like tonight.” the Cowboys coach said after the game (via Bleacher Report).
Obviously, the 56-year old is just trying to look at the positives and focus on things which he and his team can control. And, for all we know, the Cowboys might have had one heck of a preparation coming into their match against the Cardinals. Unfortunately for McCarthy, his team's preparedness didn't translate to a win.
Monday was the first full game where superstar QB Dak Prescott wasn't calling the plays and the Cowboys offense looks a bit lost without him. Dallas had key errors when they had the ball and could never get it going against the tough Arizona defense. On the other end of the grid iron, the Cowboys also didn't have the answer to a Kyler Murray-led offense who were firing from almost all cylinders on Monday.
Hopefully, the Cowboys can have an even better practice session ahead of next week's matchup against the Washington Football Team to clean up these errors.
