Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott missed much of last season because of a devastating ankle injury. While that has healed, Prescott is now dealing with a nagging right shoulder injury that is keeping him from going full bore in camp.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys desperately tried to downplay the fact that Prescott is getting another MRI on the shoulder:

This certainly seems like a reason to worry, but guess we'll just have to take their word for it. We'll have to take Prescott's word for it as well, because he was the one who admitted to the MRI earlier in the day. The Cowboys quarterback is still hoping to take the field for the third preseason game:

This all doesn't seem ideal, but perhaps the MRI is just precautionary and Prescott is going to make sure everything is all clean in there. Of course, if something does show up on that MRI, it's hard to see him playing in preseason at all, and the hope would then just be that he's ready for Week 1 in about a month.

Dallas needs Prescott under center in order to bounce back from a dreadful 2020 season. The Cowboys went 6-10 and struggled at quarterback after Prescott's injury. It's not ideal that the quarterback is now missing time now after sitting out so much of last season, but it shouldn't take him too long to get back in the groove once he's healthy

Just cross those fingers he actually is.
