The Dallas Cowboys have been awaiting for DeMarcus Lawrence to make his return to the team before the regular season. Lawrence is expected to come off of the physically unable to perform list soon according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The Cowboys began training camp with Lawrence on the PUP list due to receiving shoulder surgery earlier this year for a torn labrum. When he received the surgery in April, the timetable for his recovery was estimated to be between four to six months.

Luckily for the 27-year old defensive end, his injury is an upper-body injury. As a result, he's been able to remain in shape during the offseason. Usually, players with leg injuries have a tough time doing cardio and other workouts to be in football shape.

Along with his surgery, Dallas handed Lawrence a lucrative contract that was worth $105 million over five years. His new deal makes him one of the NFL's highest-paid pass rushers.

Over the past two seasons, Lawrence has become one of the league's best edge-rushers. The Cowboys' sack-artist has accumulated 25 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, 49 quarterback hits, and six forced fumbles in that span.

Coming into this season, Dallas is anxious to get their new acquisition Robert Quinn and Lawrence on the field together. Unfortunately, Quinn suffered a fractured hand in training camp that required surgery.

Additionally, Quinn received a two-game suspension to begin the 2019 season for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.

Therefore, even if Lawrence makes his return to the lineup before Week 1; the Cowboys won't have Quinn on the other side yet.
