Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has reached out to Jerry Jones in hopes that he will put out some type of statement about everything going on in the world. While other teams and owners have put out statements in support of their players trying to make a difference with social justice issues, Jones has been quiet the last few weeks.

McCoy knows everyone from the Cowboys can make statements, but they are still under the umbrella of the team. So if Jones was to make a statement, that would make an even bigger impact.

“You have the players, who have their own brand, but we’re all under the umbrella of the Dallas Cowboys,” McCoy said via Pro Football Talk. “The Dallas Cowboys are the most recognized franchise in the world. They can get behind it, whether it’s the players or just being in the movement, period, and showing their support. It would be great to hear a statement from the Cowboys, great to hear a statement from Jerry Jones in support of everything that’s going on. Will that get me in trouble saying that? I don’t know, but the truth is it needs to be said. The problem is people are afraid to have the conversations.”

Jones usually isn't afraid to speak up about anything, so his silence about this issue really says a lot. Maybe the pressure put on by McCoy and others will get him to speak out. Even if he does speak out now though, how much will the statement be considered fake just because he is feeling the pressure from others?
