Since being cleared to play for the 2018 season, Dallas Cowboys defensive Randy Gregory has played in a limited fashion in spots through the first three games. However, he has struggled to make any notable impact as he has yet to register a single tackle while picking up a penalty for roughing the passer against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.

Despite this lack of production, head coach Jason Garrett stated on Friday that believes that Gregory should see more improvement in his play as he gets more playing time under his belt, according to Calvin Watkins of The Atheltic.

The problem in that is that he hasn't been able to play in long stretches that would provide him with more chances to make an impact. He has shown earlier in his career prior to the suspensions that he could be a factor along the defensive line. However, he has yet to break through, but what should be noted is that the last time that he played in the regular season was back in the 2016 campaign. It is an extended time away from his craft that likely put him behind the eight ball a bit with his development and adjustment at the next level.

If he can prove that he can be a difference maker against the pass, it could help him etch out a consistent role as the Cowboys have been able to have a strong impact in that regard currently ranking second in the NFL with 11 sacks through the first three games. This presents him a chance to blend into the mold to help push them to possess one of the top-tier pass rushes in the league even more so when David Irving returns from his four-game suspension.

It is simply on his shoulders to prove that he can continue to adjust and step up his level of play to earn playing time that will allow him to be a factor along the Cowboys' defensive line.
