The Dallas Cowboys' coaching situation looked very murky after their playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Mike McCarthy looked like he was on the hot seat and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was receiving significant interest as a head coach. Fortunately for Dallas, they kept Quinn and McCarthy has the support of team owner Jerry Jones and will remain in his position for next season.

Jones said to Dallas Morning News that McCarthy's job was never in jeopardy and that he and McCarthy worked together to retain Quinn, who signed a multi-year contract to return as Dallas' DC. Keeping the man who coordinated one of the best and most-improved defenses in the NFL was a huge offseason priority that Dallas can check off its to-do list.

Jones added that he thinks offensive coordinator Kellen Moore will be back in Dallas despite also receiving interest as a head coach.

The Cowboys' season ended abruptly and on a bad note but they still have a relatively bright future. The offense and defense are solid units all-around, littered with playmakers and sturdy, reliable players. Especially in a somewhat weak division, Dallas has a great shot at being the NFC East champions yet again.

Improving in do-or-die situations is where the Cowboys need to do better at. They also need to cut down on committing penalties badly. With those improvements and a few roster tweaks, America's Team could be a strong team for years to come under McCarthy, Quinn and Moore.
