The NFL trade deadline presents an opportunity for any team to go out and improve their roster for a playoff push. But if you're asking Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, he's content with the group he has.

Speaking Tuesday on 105.9 The Fan, Jones explained why America's Team won't initiate any trade talks.

Quotes via Ari Meirov:

“It’ll have to come our way. I don’t want to preclude it in any way, but it always does. … That’s not showing a lack of aggressiveness, that's just that’s where it starts. I like where we are with our personnel today, so I’m not thinking in any way that we need to upgrade our roster.”

The Cowboys sit at 4-2 at the moment after a Week 7 bye but they're by no means perfect. A 42-10 blowout loss in Week 5 to the San Francisco 49ers proved just that. While Jones is claiming Dallas won't be too active within the next week ahead of the deadline, he also made it clear he won't shut down a move if it's logical:

It's not a lack of being aggressive … I would extend a little on a deal to improve our team right now,” Jones said. “Because I think we have a team that’s a contender.”

The Cowboys traded for Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore in the offseason and also acquired Trey Lance from the Niners before the campaign. They're never afraid to pull something off. Dallas has been linked to Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who could certainly give them another weapon in their backfield.

We'll see if Jones stands pat or not.
