The name Dak Prescott carries a lot of weight within the Dallas Cowboys organization. He's one of the biggest reasons why the Cowboys are so successful in the NFL at the moment. He's also demanding a huge payday from the team as they're trying to work out a mutually beneficial agreement on his next contract.

Due to the radio silence about the progress of the new deal, Ian Rapoport released an article revealing that the quarterback will most likely be given a franchise tag as there's no solid progress on the contract yet.

However, team owner Jerry Jones went out to deny any allegations that his team will put the tag on Prescott. As recounted by Jori Epstein of USA TODAY, Jones went off at the NFL Insider.

Here's what the owner told 105.3 The FAN about the tidbit Rapoport shared:

“He has no idea. Because I would be the only one that knows whether he’s right or wrong, and I can tell you he has no idea.”

However, even Jones knows that he cannot count on Prescott to just sit on his hands if the team doesn't give him the money he thinks he deserves. He's shown in his performances that he deserves a max contract.

Through nine games in his fourth NFL season, Prescott's already notched 2777 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. He's en route to set career-highs in both categories while keeping the Cowboys relevant for a deep playoff run.

The last thing they need to do is give Prescott an unsatisfactory contract. If they do, Rapoport's prediction will definitely become a stinging reality.
