Unlike last season around this time, there's no quarterback controversy in terms of who will be starting under center for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. Dak Prescott is the starter for the foreseeable future, but his backup has yet to be determined with Kellen Moore struggling during the preseason.

With Moore failing to make an impression in the first few weeks of the NFL preseason, the Cowboys brass appears to be considering making a change on the depth chart, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Considering the largely unproven Moore has been given the backup job behind starter Dak Prescott it is a cause for concern — enough for a source to say that he will be the subject of conversation at personnel meetings this week.

As Hill points out, Moore has done little to secure the backup job behind Prescott for the upcoming regular season with another poor showing on Saturday.

He completed 10 of 21 passes for 131 yards with a quarterback rating of 67.8 in the 24-19 victory against the Indianapolis Colts at AT&T Stadium Saturday night.

With the start of the regular season only a few weeks away, the Cowboys making sure they have a viable backup behind Prescott could become a high priority for the storied franchise. Last year there was no issue with veterans Tony Romo and Mark Sanchez ready to fill in if Prescott wasn't cutting or got hurt at some point during his rookie campaign.

The Cowboys could be forced to go with Cooper Rush as Prescott's backup if the team continues to have little confidence in Moore moving forward. Rush has played well during the preseason, but having a veteran presence backing up Prescott would seem to be the safer route for a team hoping to contend for a title.
