Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been accused of domestic abuse, and now he’s fielding yet another character criticism.

During a segment on an NFL Network’s postgame show, San Diego Chargers great LaDainian Tomlinson has called Elliott a quitter based on how he saw last year’s top rusher in the NFL behave in Dallas’ deflating 42-17 road loss to the Denver Broncos.

“I didn't like the way he quit today. I didn't like that. He absolutely quit on his team today. And there's gonna be times when you're not going to have room to run. On a couple of plays, first his attitude on the sideline … clearly, he didn't have any communication with his team.

Tomlinson didn't mention it but what probably got his attention enough to insinuate that Elliott was a quitter was a play in the third quarter in which Elliott appeared to give minimal effort in chasing Chris Harris after the Broncos defensive back picked off a pass from Dak Prescott.

Elliott was understandably upset of how he performed on the field against the Broncos, who limited him to a measly total of eight yards on nine carries — five yards of which came on a meaningless rush when the contest was virtually in the bag of Denver. In total, the Cowboys mustered just 40 rushing yards.

The small number he put up on the ground was a bitter pill to swallow for Elliott, especially when considering that he entered the contest averaging 108 rushing yards per game. However, not even NFL legends are immune to having bad nights.

Without taking away anything from the Broncos defense, Elliott could chuck this one up as a mere aberration to his otherwise impressive career, though guys like Tomlinson would still prefer to see Elliott be more explicit in exerting effort even when a loss is imminent.
