Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott put on quite a performance against the New York Giants in the 2019 NFL season opener. It seems former NFL quarterback Michael Vick was impressed with what he saw.

Prescott seamlessly led the offense to 35 points through the first three quarters. Vick said during an appearance on UNDISPUTED that he looked like an elite quarterback.

“To go out there and be that accurate, that efficient, the ball distribution was on display…Dak Prescott looked like he was a Top 5 QB, right now.”

The prospect of Prescott being considered a top-five quarterback after just one game may seem far-fetched. Regardless, there is no denying Vick's claims that he looked every bit the part of a franchise quarterback against the Giants.

He completed 25-of-32 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns in the 35-17 win. He was able to distribute the love between seven different pass-catchers, two of which managed to eclipse 100 yards on the day. It is safe to say that Prescott has raised expectations for this season.

Prescott's performance brings the issue of his looming contract extension to the forefront. It is no secret that he and wide receiver Amari Cooper are the most notable players left on the roster without a long-term deal. Prescott's outing will certainly go a long way during the negotiation process.

The onus will be on him to prove that he is capable of leading with his arm on a consistent basis. Only then will he be able to solidify an argument for Vick's notion.
