Dez Bryant went on an epic Twitter rant over the weekend, blasting his former team, the Dallas Cowboys. He called out ex-teammates Travis Frederick and Sean Lee, in particular, and strongly implied that they had a hand in running him out of town.
When asked about Bryant’s comments, Lee — whom Dez referred to as “Snake Lee” — didn’t hold back himself.
“First thing to say, that I can get anybody off the team and have any input on a roster is absurd,” Lee said per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “The second thing [is] I love Dez, and I want the best for him.
“You know, to be honest, we did butt heads, because I wanted Dez to be more accountable to this team and his teammates. To be honest with you, a lot of the team felt that way. I think he needs to look at himself and hold himself accountable.”
It’s pretty clear that even though several months have already passed since his departure from the team, Dez is still annoyed by how his time in Dallas ended. He particularly didn’t appreciate the treatment he received from Lee and the other leaders in the locker room.
But Lee does have a point in that Dez needs to hold himself accountable. Bryant also played a part in the problems he experienced in Dallas, and as a player of a certain stature, he needs to own up to them. He can’t go on blaming others for his misfortunes.
Hopefully, that sort of maturity comes with age. But if Bryant doesn't make himself accountable as Lee suggests, he is liable to experience similar problems to what he had with the Cowboys on his future team/s.
