The Dallas Cowboys are firmly in the hunt to contend in 2019, in large part due to a star-studded offensive line. A key-cog in that group, right guard Zack Martin, plays a significant role in whether they will be competitive or not. As all teams do during training camp, injuries have taken place, including one to Martin.

First reported by ESPN's Todd Archer, Martin is skipping Friday's practice with back spasms. The team is taking him for an MRI to check it out. For many, this is unbearable news, but fret not.

Cowboys.com's Rob Phillips shed light on the situation, noting that the MRI to Martin's back is “precautionary.” Phillips mentions that head coach Jason Garrett isn't too worried with the guard's back, saying he's “moving around fine.”

Considering that left tackle Tyron Smith has suffered through back injuries in the past, the Cowboys' precautionary MRI for Martin is justifiable. Factoring in that Martin is a bonafide star at his position, and it's training camp, it's smart.

The Cowboys need Martin to be healthy for the start of the regular season and are going to take a cautious approach to make sure that happens. As a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, that's an obvious statement.

Martin has been an ironman for most of his career. He didn't miss a game for his first four seasons, and still just lost two in 2018 with a knee injury. With center Travis Frederick back, Martin can once again help Dallas build their great wall in 2019.
