Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper had an offer on the table that would have paid him Julio Jones-like money from the Washington Redskins, according to Ed Werder of ESPN.

Jones is currently playing on a three year, $66 million deal and it appears that the Redskins would have paid Cooper around that $22 million a year. Cooper instead signed a five-year contract to return to the Cowboys worth $100 million. According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, Cooper's deal includes almost $60 million in guaranteed money.

The big question after franchise tagging Dak Prescott was if the team would have enough money to sign Cooper and it appears for now they do. There still isn't a long term deal in place though, so who knows if it will have an impact on a long term deal getting done. The Cowboys have until July 15th to try and negotiate a long term deal, but if they can't get one done, Prescott will play the 2020 season under the franchise tag.

Last summer, the Cowboys made Ezekiel Elliott the highest-paid running back in football, so they have a lot of money wrapped up in their top three offensive players.

During the 2019 season, Cooper caught 79 passes for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns. The Cowboys lost Randall Cobb to the Houston Texans, and if they would have lost Cooper, the team would have had a lot of issues.

The Cowboys might have to cut some corners on other parts of their team, but they have their three-star players locked up.
