As Bryce Young continues to bolster his resume for the 2021 Heisman Trophy award, much attention has already turned to whether he may soon follow in Mac Jones' footsteps to be the next Alabama quarterback selected in the first-round of an NFL Draft.

Young has led Alabama to a standout 7-1 start this season and a 4-1 record in SEC play. While he has had minor hiccups along the way, he still sits at a notable 26 passing touchdowns recorded through eight games played.

As was the case for both Jones and also Tua Tagovailoa, there have been questions on whether Young's success this season has largely been because of the potent athletes that Alabama has at its disposal on offense, from John Metchie III to versatile running back Brian Robinson Jr.

Longtime San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana has also taken notice of this narrative as well. Montana touched on this matter during a recent episode of ESPN’s “College Football Live” show.

“The sad thing about everything is Alabama reminds me of the USC of old,” Montana said. “They're putting out quarterbacks like crazy and the kid that's there right now is fun to watch.

“You question back and forth, is he the guy that can he make it into the NFL. You just don't know because usually, Alabama has such great teams, and they're so far above other teams that their talent level usually carries them.”

Young is well facing much pressure at this stage in his football career, especially for a quarterback who is already being projected to be a possible top-10 pick for the 2023 NFL Draft.

For now, Young sure is much focused on leading Alabama to a second consecutive College Football Playoff national title.
