Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo was furious during the late moments of their game against Serbia as it ended with a controversial call by the game officials. He fired a late shot that managed to cross the goal line even before Serbian center-back Stefan Mitrovic cleared it away. The TV cameras caught it but the referees turned a blind eye and didn't tally a goal in favor of Portugal, via TMZ Sports.

Check out the crazy play:

The 36-year-old forward was extremely frustrated (been a lot of that lately), throwing his captain's armband on the ground and storming off the pitch. Cristiano Ronaldo was eventually given a warning for his actions as he protested his case to the referees afterward:

Without Cristiano Ronaldo's last-gasp goal, the game ended in a 2-2 draw between the two teams. Serbia is currently leading the Group A standings with a win and a draw in their tally to account for a total of four points. Portugal is trailing behind in second place with a similar record on the second day of the World Cup Qualifiers.

After the match, Ronaldo insisted that he will continue to brave through tough times just to represent and give honor to his country in the international football scene:

ā€œI always give and will give everything for my country, that will never change. But there are difficult times to deal with, especially when we feel that an entire nation is being harmed.ā€

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal will try to bounce back from a disappointing draw when they match up against Luxembourg on March 30 for the third game of the qualifiers.
