Cody Bellinger is on the upswing. The Chicago Cubs outfielder has remained hot since his return from a knee injury back in June. In Sunday's 7-2 Cubs home win over the St. Louis Cardinals, the former National League Most Valuable Player went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. His only hit of the game was a two-run home run in the first inning that put the Cubs ahead early, 2-0.

Bellinger, who's been on quite a roll, however, isn't fully embracing the idea that he's back at being among the best at the plate in the big leagues.

“No, definitely not,” the 2019 NL MVP following the win over the Cardinals, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). “I'm feeling good, but there's a lot of baseball left to be played. Obviously can roll from this … but there's a lot more at-bats to go and compete.”

Over his last 11 games, Cody Bellinger has managed to hit .429 with five home runs to go with 15 RBIs. He also recorded two doubles and three walks with only six strikeouts in 42 at-bats over that same span in which he also posted an incredible 1.290 OPS. Among all qualified hitters in the big leagues, that OPS is sixth-best overall. His 2023 OPS+ of 145 is the second-best of his career thus far.

The Cubs' investment in Bellinger, whom they signed to a one-year deal worth $17.5 million, is looking great at the moment. They will have to give Cody Bellinger a check worth a million dollars if he ended up winning the Comeback Player of the Year this season.
