Kyle Schwarber has been putting in work for the Chicago Cubs this season and has been on a tear late in the year. With the playoffs coming up quickly and the Cubs fighting for a spot, the franchise has needed all of the big production that Schwarber has been giving them.
That has been the case once again on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field against an up-and-coming Cincinnati Reds team.
Trailing the Reds 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning, Schwarber came to the plate with Nicholas Castellanos on base. Not only did he find a way to get the dynamic outfielder home, he smacked a massive triple down the right field line. That’s right, Schwarber hit a triple.
Take a look at the play for yourself and enjoy seeing the big guy run the bases:

The Cubs are in major need of picking up the win. Cincinnati is the kind of team that is just good enough to ruin Chicago’s playoff hopes. Schwarber is doing everything possible to keep that from happening.
Following the RBI triple, Schwarber has now racked up 90 RBI’s on the season. He has also hit three triples on the season. Add to those numbers the fact that Schwarber has hammered 37 home runs on the year and this should be viewed as a breakout season for him.
Granted, Schwarber could improve a bit from a consistency standpoint, but the numbers look good. Chicago will need the outfielder to stay hot the rest of the way to have a shot at a playoff run.
