D'Angelo Russell may be having a better sophomore year in the NBA based on his stats, but he is far from being consistent in those games. However, he admitted that he already knows what his biggest issue is.

According to the Los Angeles Lakers point guard, he is doing his best to remain professional at all times. What he is struggling with, according to him, is his youth. Russell is only 21-years-old and already almost done with his second season in the league, playing as the starter for one of the most storied franchises in NBA history.

His head coach, Luke Walton, spoke about him recently and shared via Joey Ramirez of Lakers.com that he feels he has shown a lot of maturity in his game this season, which for him is a big step forward for Russell.

“I’ve seen more consistency in his professionalism and in his affecting the outcome of games, whether he is struggling or hitting shots, recently. He had those early turnovers and, before, those games would kind of snowball a little bit and he would struggle the rest of the night.

“He’s done a good job of, whether he’s making bad plays or missing shots, still helping our team be in a position to win games, which is a huge step forward.”

This year, Russell is averaging better numbers across the board with 15.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He just needs to take care of the ball more; his 2.7 turnovers per contest are the highest on the team.

Should he be successful in limiting it in the coming seasons, it will definitely help the Lakers speed up their rebuilding process, as he has already shown glimpses of his true potential in the past two years. There's no doubt Russell is a talented player, it's just a matter of being consistent and maturing even more on the court that he must learn at a very young age.
