Daniil Medvedev may have been consistent in doing his best inside the court but his earnings don't work the same way.

Many would be quick to assume that being World No. 2 player also meant that the money is long as well. However, Daniil Medvedev himself has come clean about the truth behind how much and how less he really makes as a tennis star.

According to Medvedev, he has had months where he made up to $3 million. However, there were also times when he doesn't even make at least $50,000 a month.

“To be completely honest, in a month you can make up to $3 million,” Medvedev admitted via Tennis World USA. “When, for example, you win a Grand Slam tournament. And some months you don't even make $50,000.

Like in any other highly-competitive sport, tennis players too needs to have a group of professionals in their team. In Medvedev's case, the regular “expenses” for it meant a significant cut from his earnings.

“And the expenses are fixed,” he divulged. “A certain amount of money is spent on maintaining the team. There is a trainer, a physical trainer, sometimes doctors and physiotherapists. All this is quite expensive, because you have to pay for tickets and accommodation, for example. Apart from that, each has a fixed salary and a percentage based on performance.”

“Theoretically, you can travel without a team or a coach, but then you won't get any results,” the Russian continued.

Nevertheless, Medvedev's career earnings is still impressive. This year, at 25 years old, his net worth is reportedly around $20 million.
